Cheong Lee Fish Tofu is a processed seafood product made primarily from finely ground fish paste blended with soy-based ingredients to create a soft, tofu-like texture. Despite its name, it does not contain traditional tofu but gets its smooth, spongy consistency from the way the fish mixture is prepared and aerated.
It has a mild, slightly savory seafood flavor that absorbs broths and sauces well, making it a popular addition to hot pots, soups, stir-fries, and noodle dishes. The texture is light and bouncy, offering a pleasant contrast to firmer proteins like meat or seafood.
Fish tofu is typically pre-cooked or ready-to-use, allowing for quick preparation. It is valued for its versatility, neutral taste, and ability to enhance dishes without overpowering other ingredients.
